Mpeg2 from Sony HDD camera super slow

I'm using SpeedEdit in the 15-day demo mode. It's v 1.0.6305. With .avi and MPEG2's that I create from old VCR tapes, it is phenomenal. But when I try to use MPEG2's from my Sony HDD camcorder, everything is super slow. I've read that the v 1.2 fixes some MPEG2 problems. Will it fix this?

Thanks!

What is the computer spec and that of the camcorder please?
If you render a segment of the Sony footage out to DV or SpeedHQ (or try both) does that rectify the situation?

You might try asking your dealer for the 1.2 patch, if they can get it over to you before your 15 days is up. Then you'll be able to decide to register your purchase without too much fuss.

It might also be worth grabbing an MPEG-2 tool to see if the VHS transfers you do are using MPEG-2 with long-GOP or I-Frame-only. Other than that, the container format may have some bearing. Are your VHS transfers mpeg2 program streams, transport streams or elemental streams please?
