baking lighting

ok i'm trying to bake the lighting of a spaceship hanger as would be come rediculas if i had all these lights in every scene specially since the hanger is easily visable from the outside of the ship and i intend to have fleets of these ships in scenes

anyway heres my problem i want to bake the lighting and the colour of the lighting too - but i want it baked in such a way that the hanger while normally looking red from the red lights in there will return to white when the sun shines into the hanger so i cant just bake it out as a luminosity map and a colour map as would stay red when the sun shone in instead of the luminosity being washed out by the local stars colour

so been trying to think of what to do but i'm stumped - anyone got a suggestion?

I haven't tried this but it was the first thing that came to mind - you could bake out two color and luminosity maps, then animate the opacity of one to the other. Either use a gradient with animated keys or just layers with animated opacity possibly. Like I said - haven't tried it, but it seems like a sound theory...
