Pluto Station
It occurred to me the other day there are a few people still left on the internet who haven't seen it, so I thought I'd share my latest occlusion test of my station.
I had to strip out the interiors to get it to fit in memory though
You can see more shots of it in my portfolio, with the textures on http://www.3dghetto.com/tobian/portfolio/
Still very much a WIP, and there are still areas not yet fully detailed (shock) but I'm getting there slowly

Thanks, I've been working on it for a few years now LOL, though I am getting faster, I keep inventing ways to make the process slower

Haha maybe you haven't I've only been rendering bits for a while now because of the 32 bit memory wall
Cheers guys, glad you like it!

I LOVE spacey SF stuff and this is a fine example of the genre. Would you be willing to share the model? I'd love to animate a sequence with this thing... (only I don't have the time to build it)

Cheers guys, yes it's greeble crazy, but I do try to make everything look like it belongs, not just bits of old stuck-on airfix parts
I do share this with some of my mates, but really I wouldn't be sharing it out, generally, until it's done, and only to people I trust. It's in no way finished, but I need to do beauty shots of it every now and then, to keep my sanity I'll probably go silly when it comes time to do that upper saucer

Ok, I got ask, how many polygons? And how long did it take you to model this? It's gorgeous.

Thanks guys!
AAAAGES is how long it's taken and LOOOADDSSS is how many polygons
In that subset of the model there's about 2.5 million polygons, but there are a shed load of those which are ngons, so in terms of tris I have no idea Still it rendered fine
As for time, well forever I more or less started this project about 4 years back, when I was first learning LW, and it's been with me on and off since then. Most of the best work on it though was done over the last year, as I've got more capable at modelling and rendering, and of course computers got faster!
A mate of mine did another render for me ->
Looks pretty cool if I say so, with a smidge of blurry reflection!

One of these days I'm going to get a monitor so I can see that large of a render all at once.

Haha, if it makes you feel any better I can't see it all at once without scaling either
