Arrow Video Tutorial: Using the sIBL Plugin

Following on from my last video on Denis' Sunsky plugin, I thought I'd do one for this another awesome free plugin.

Christian Bloch's sIBL plugin.

QT H.264, 27MB WinRAR Archive
Video: Using the sIBL Plugin

As with the last video, this is aimed at beginners who haven't yet tried this awesome plugin.

Cheers
Matt

Just noticed something, if you download the 'Milkyway' sIBL collection, it doesn't show up in the list.

Turns out the .ibl file is incorrectly named. It's named 'Milkyway.ibl.txt' when it should be 'Milkyway.ibl'. So you might wanna rename that.

Wow!

Though I've used it allready, I love your videotuts and you have a tendency to pick up on things I've not noticed before!

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the plug, great movie!

One addition I have to the reflection settings: The "Reflected Geometry" option is safe to use, it will not touch your objects, instead it will create a dome (just like the background dome) with the reflection HDRI on it. I highly recommend using it, because it will add some great details to your reflections.
Generally, unless there is a note popping up that you're changing object surfaces, it will not touch them.

Christian Bloch

PS: Sorry about the Milkyway, gonna fix it tomorrow

Just a quick note that maybe goes without saying, but if you ever need to render for compositing, changing the background to a pure black image will make life alot easier.
