Historic live stream expected to attract hip, Web-savvy audience, bypass traditional broadcast TV constraints, and reduce production costs

San Antonio – July 14, 2011NewTek, worldwide leader in portable live production and 3D animation systems, is partnering with the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) to produce and stream the 2011 MISS TEEN USA® pageant to be presented worldwide, via the Internet. MUO officials expect this historic Web stream event, which will be produced with the NewTek TriCaster™ portable live production system, to be instrumental in reaching an Internet-savvy audience. Pageant fans will be able to access the live stream from the Atlantis, Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas, via www.missteenusa.comon Saturday, July 16, beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET.

The MISS TEEN USA® pageant is an annual competition for girls between the ages of 14 and 19, with contestants from each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. Like its parent organization, MUO, the MISS TEEN USA® pageant seeks to recognize young women who are goal-oriented, with interests in advancing their careers, personal and humanitarian issues, and improving the lives of others.

"Thanks to NewTek TriCaster, we are able to provide our fans of the Miss Teen USA Pageant with high quality streaming and unprecedented access due to this incredible piece of technology," said Colin Hornett, Director of Digital Multimedia for the Miss Universe Organization. "We offer behind-the-scenes coverage, exclusive content and never-before-seen moments because of the ease, sophistication and mobility that TriCaster offers. We are delighted to partner with NewTek since our very first webcast and hope we continue together for many more."

With TriCaster, anyone can simultaneously produce, live stream, broadcast, project and record high definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) network-style productions. A single operator or small team can switch between multiple cameras, virtual inputs and live virtual sets, while inserting clips, titles and motion graphics with multi-channel effects. In addition to the MISS TEEN USA® Pageant, TriCaster is used by webcasters, broadcasters, sports organizations, schools, houses of worship, government agencies and others to provide a new level of extended programming and content to their audiences.

"This is a very exciting year for Miss Teen USA, and our migration to presenting the pageant exclusively on the Web is a big part of our enthusiasm," adds Hornett. "With TriCaster, we have successfully gained a viewing audience of more than 1.3 million since we started this partnership. By showing the pageant in its entirety, as well as extra features, we expect a substantial increase in online viewership in future events."
