LightWave® [7.5] Packs in New Features
-
Includes New Multi-Platform Duo-Dongle and
Special Upgrade Pricing for All LightWave® Users
San Antonio, TX - April 25,
2002 -- NewTek, Inc., manufacturer of industry-leading
3D animation and video production products,
continued their tradition of affordable innovation
today by releasing LightWave 3D® [7.5],
a feature-packed new upgrade to their award-winning
LightWave 3D® modeling, rendering, and
animation package. The upgrade is available
free for current version [7] owners, and is
available for download immediately from NewTek
at http://www.newtek.com and their worldwide
partners. Additionally, the software will ship
with both Macintosh and Windows versions in
the same box and a new USB duo-dongle that
will work on either platform. New York City
is the location of the gala launch event for
LightWave® [7.5] today, Thursday, April
25th.
LightWave® users who have not yet upgraded
to version [7] will find this the perfect time
to move up to the new LightWave® [7.5]. LightWave® [7.5]
is crammed with new features and improvements,
both big and small, and it's got the speed, power,
and stability users need for getting work done
quickly and easily. As an added incentive, NewTek
is extending the upgrade price of $395US to owners
of any previous version of stand-alone LightWave® for
the next 60 days.
"LightWave 3D® gives us the flexibility
and power that we need to produce Oscar® winning
effects, with one of the most advanced 3D toolsets
available," said Gary Coulter, 3D | CG Supervisor
at Mill Film. "[7.5] is an amazing update
to an already outstanding package."
Free Demonstrations Available
"For those who don't use LightWave® yet, just stop by a NewTek dealer
and get a free demo of this new version -- take a good hard look at the software," recommends
Arnie Cachelin, LightWave 3D® engineer and evangelist. "Like tens of
thousands of artists, you might decide that LightWave® is the only animation
software you need. Even if you currently use another 3D application, you'll see
that LightWave 3D®, the truly complete modeling, animation and rendering
package, will give you incredible new capabilities."
Major Upgrade sets LightWave® ahead of Competition
The depth and affordability of this upgrade sets
LightWave 3D® far above the competition.
NewTek's philosophy has always been to make
the most innovative and high quality tools
available to the largest number of users worldwide.
LightWave® [7.5] is another example - dozens
of new features and improvements, available
to the user base at no cost and with no hidden
'service contract' fees.
"With four significant upgrades in about
a year and a price drop that caused other 3D
companies to react in panic, LightWave® is
poised to launch a second revolution and we want
as many people as possible to be part of it," said
Allen Hastings, chief architect of LightWave
3D®.
LightWave 3D® now ships with a duo-dongle,
allowing users to have a single license for both
Windows and Macintosh machines. This will not
only save them money, but will give users the
flexibility of having a copy of LightWave 3D® on
a work machine running Windows and a home machine
running a Mac OS or vice versa. LightWave 3D® has
long been a leader in cross-platform capability,
and the duo-dongle will further increase flexibility
for users.
Recently praised by several publications, LightWave® [7]
received the Macworld Editor's Choice (Eddy Award)
in the 3D category for 2001, a four-out-of-five-star
review from Game Developer Magazine, and a "Freakin'
Awesome" rating by MacAddict. LightWave® [7]
is also being used in projects including covers
on Newsweek and Time Magazine; feature films
including Panic Room, We Were Soldiers, Blackhawk
Down, Oscar-nominated Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius
and Hart's War; game titles such as Serious Sam
I and II, Civilization III, and Twisted Metal:
Black; as well as television series such as Star
Trek: Enterprise, Dune: The Miniseries, and The
Family Guy.
