"LightWave 3D® Evangelist"
Award-winning 3D Artist and Educator
Brings Vast Industry Experience to NewTek's Marketing
Team
San Antonio, Texas - June 4, 2002 --
NewTek, Inc., manufacturer of industry-leading
3D animation and video products, announced today
that they have strengthened their marketing team
with the addition of William Vaughan as the "LightWave
3D® Evangelist". A recipient of several
New Media Addy awards, Vaughan brings broad-based
experience to the position, having done 3D work
for print, web, multimedia, games and broadcast.
He has taught LightWave 3D® and developed
a variety of tutorial and educational materials
for the industry. In addition, Vaughan wrote
Flash 5: Design from Concept to Creation, and
co-authored several other multi-media and 3D
books and articles.
Over the past ten years, Vaughan has established
a strong reputation for his award-winning work
for clients such as Compaq, New Line Cinema,
and Halliburton. He has also worked in the LightWave® community
as an instructor at North Harris Community College.
Vaughan's other activities in LightWave® user
education include training companies such as
NASA, Fulbright & Jaworski, and KHOU Channel
11, the CBS affiliate in Houston to use LightWave®.
"Having someone with William's diversified
professional background in industries such as
print, new media, broadcast, and games is an
invaluable asset to NewTek," said Jim Plant,
president and CEO. "He gives our customers
someone on the inside who knows and understands
their needs and can connect those needs with
NewTek's 3D development team."
Though his status as an employee may be new,
Vaughan has worked closely with NewTek's marketing
team since 1997 on the development of Inspire
3D and various web applications and marketing
tools. In his new position, he will develop a
new educational program, advance the LightWave® feature
set, and work closely with key accounts and the
growing number of end users of NewTek's products.
"My job begins and ends with the needs
of the digital artist," notes Vaughan. "I've
always been an un-official LightWave® Evangelist
as an end user spreading the word, and I'm very
excited to be able to continue doing so in an
official capacity for NewTek."
