NewTek's LightWave® Community Training Tour Launches

Most Ambitious LightWave 3D® Training Tour Ever Commences in Las Vegas, Kicks off NAB

Las Vegas, Nevada -- April 7, 2003 -- NewTek, Inc., manufacturer of industry-leading 3D animation and video products, launched the LightWave® Worldwide Community Tour in Las Vegas this past weekend, as a preliminary to NewTek's activities this week at NAB, where the company is presenting in Booth #SL2844, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The series of affordable two-day training seminars on 3D animation, visual effects and graphic design is the largest LightWave tour ever, with stops in the US, Mexico, Canada, and more. Class instructors will vary from location to location, but will include FX Academy Distance Learning director Larry Shultz. Complete information and signup instructions are available on the NewTek.com website or at LearnLightWave.com

"LightWave has an incredible community that spans every continent, and NewTek tries to support that community through its forums, tutorials and by sponsoring events like this tour. Okay, when I said every continent I may having been stretching it a but - I'm not sure about Antarctica," said Tim Jenison, Founder and Chairman of NewTek, Inc. "All these users around the world have helped make LightWave the best supported 3D program on the planet and this tour is a great way for LightWave users to hone their chops."

The two-day classes cover both basic and advanced techniques for modeling, character animation, motion graphics, and much more. Tour participants will also receive a variety of training materials covering the topics taught in the classes as well as additional techniques, including a CD loaded with all new material. The classes and instructional materials offer a range of training and techniques, with something of value for any LightWave user, beginner to expert.

“I was very pleased with the seminar and the content CD that they passed out the 2nd day,” said one recent seminar attendee. “Both alone were well worth the money. Together I feel like they undercharged me. Also the teaching method they used was very laid back and designed to put you at ease. They come off as a couple of average Joes, which belies the depth of knowledge they both have of LightWave. My take on it: if you have the chance, go.”

LightWave 3D features include:

  • World-class rendering
  • Fast, versatile Modeler
  • Powerful scripting language
  • Character Animation tools
  • Particle Effects
  • Fast and easy keyframe animation
  • Easy import of Illustrator® data
  • Easy integration with other production tools
