$49 Hands On LightWave® Training at SIGGRAPH

San Antonio, Texas -- July 8, 2002 -- NewTek, Inc., developer of industry-leading 3D animation and video products, announced today new, lost cost training options for people who want to learn about 3D graphics and animation at SIGGRAPH. Classes will be held in the LightWave 3D® computer labs on the campus of San Antonio College beginning on Monday, July 22nd and running through Thursday, the final day of the SIGGRAPH exhibition.

The SIGGRAPH events include a slate of three hour, hands-on classes that range from introductory looks at animation and modeling to more advanced classes in character rigging, scripting and special effects. There are also specific classes in using LightWave 3D® for game creation, print, broadcast, and new media. The classes are all taught by leading experts and are priced at an amazing $49 for each three-hour session. Additionally, there is lab time available outside of class, and NewTek is providing a free shuttle service from the SIGGRAPH convention center.

“Education is a major priority at NewTek,” said Jim Plant, President and CEO of NewTek. “We’re offering people everywhere a great opportunity to learn about the world’s leading 3D software package, with very affordable classes at the upcoming SIGGRAPH convention here in San Antonio, and with dozens of seminars all around the country.”

NewTek is also sponsoring three different training tours that are making their way around the world. These one to two day seminars cover a variety of topics in LightWave 3D®, from lighting and modeling to advanced character animation features like adding clothes and hair. The lecture style seminars are priced at $149 to $189. The tours have scheduled stops all across the US, Canada, and Europe throughout 2002.

“We want to help as many people as possible join the thousands around the world who have become working professionals because LightWave® gives them the power of a high end 3D package at a fraction of the cost of other comparable programs.” said NewTek founder Tim Jenison. “With all of the cool new features in the latest version of LightWave®, NewTek is committed to helping our users get the most out of the software, so they can continue to go out and change the world.”
