Opens Door to New Pipeline
and Content Options For LightWave 3D® Users
SAN ANTONIO - July 23,
2002 - Kaydara Inc. and NewTek Inc.
announced today at SIGGRAPH 2002 the full integration
of Kaydara's versatile FBX™ 3D interchange
format into LightWave 3D®, NewTek's powerful
3D modelling, texturing, rendering, and 3D
animation tool. Kaydara FBX allows for the
universal interchange of 3D data between every
major 3D package on the market and a significant
number of second-tier applications. Support
for FBX in LightWave 3D® gives NewTek's
users in the film, broadcast, games, and new
media industries access to the wealth of content
available through the Kaydara's extensive network
of FBX partners.
FBX has quickly become the leading
3D File Interchange Format. It provides a powerful
new way of working with 3D content from a wide
variety of applications and source material providers.
FBX allows users to maximize their content creation
pipeline by letting them create cutting edge
content without having to worry about inter-package
compatibility.
"A primary strength of
LightWave 3D® is the ease in which it fits
into production pipelines with other applications," said
Dr. Andrew Cross, senior vice president of engineering
for NewTek. "Adding support for the FBX
file format will provide a new dimension to this
production process. Content producers can now
add LightWave 3D®'s powerful content creation
and rendering capabilities to other 3D animation
solutions, such as MOTIONBUILDER™, providing
instant access to a wider variety of existing
content."
LightWave 3D® is an award
winning 3D software equally at home for games,
film, broadcast, print and new media, and available
for both Windows and Mac. LightWave® is used
world-wide by creative artists who want the easiest
to use and most complete 3D toolset of any off-the-shelf
3D application, with unequalled render quality
and at an affordable price.
"NewTek is a leader in
the 3D tools market," said Jean-Jacques
Hermans, senior strategic advisor for Kaydara. "LightWave® has
proven itself time and time again to be a powerful
tool for content creation. The Kaydara FBX combined
with LightWave® will allow 3D artists to
have access to a wide range of FBX content allowing
them to achieve a new level of flexibility and
creativity in their work."
