ANC Sports Powers Stadium Displays
with VT[2]
Comprehensive Tools, Highest Video Quality
and Open Design Make NewTek’s Flagship
Product
the Clear Choice for Demanding Applications
San Antonio, Texas --
July 24, 2002 -- NewTek, Inc., manufacturer
of industry-leading 3D animation and video
products, and ANC Sports Enterprises, a leading
provider of rotational and LED signage systems
for sports and entertainment, today announced
that ANC’s turnkey LED Fascia Board signage
system with ANC FasciaSoft is powered by NewTek’s
VT[2]. ANC Fascia Boards are
currently deployed in 8 of the largest sports
stadiums in North America, with others on the
way. One forthcoming deployment is in the new
SBC Stadium built for the NBA Spurs in NewTek’s
hometown, San Antonio, TX.
ANC Technologies, a division
of ANC Sports, oversees the development and deployment
of the LED Fascia Board signage systems. The
Fascia Boards are designed to fit the fascia
of any arena or stadium seating area and can
be configured to any length, for up to 360-degree
coverage. The largest systems in place are approximately
1000 linear feet, for the fascia displays in
Phillips Arena in Atlanta, GA, and First Union
Center in Philadelphia, PA. The systems are equally
at home in the outdoors, as the 248-foot unit
installed at Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh
Steelers, demonstrates.
At the heart of the video and
graphic engine for ANC’s LED Fascia Board
is an OEM NewTek VT[2] and SX-8
switcher expansion module. VT[2]
provides uncompressed D1 video, the highest quality
available, and the SX-8 provides connection and
switching for up to 24 video inputs. ANC Technologies
adds an extensive custom control toolset for
the multi-media display system to the already
comprehensive editing, switching, and 2D and
3D graphics capabilities of VT[2].
The LED Fascia Board accepts D1 for video or
XVGA for stills from the VT®-powered
graphics engine. The result is the best quality
video and graphics engine driving state-of-the-art
signage systems, with precise control and complete
reliability in all circumstances.
“VT[2]
offers the most complete set of video and graphics
capabilities, in an open, accessible design,” said
Mark Stross, president of ANC Technologies. “This
makes VT® a springboard technology
from which any variety of applications can be
built. Nothing else can provide us the power,
flexibility and reliability in mission critical
situations, along with pristine video quality
and the ability to create a custom look for the
operating interface that each of our clients
require.”
"The VT[2]
was designed from the ground up to be a next-generation
plug-in driven system that allows all components
in a system to be replaced, modified or added
to." said Dr. Andrew Cross, Ph.D., Senior
Vice President of Engineering for NewTek. "Not
only has this architecture accelerated the pace
of our own development, but exposing the same
abilities to OEM partners has allowed them to
quickly and economically add powerful features,
controls and configurations specific for their
application. With our skin-able interface technologies
they can provide a unique look for their product,
allowing them to provide an environment that
is fine-tuned to their client's requirements
and target market."
