NewTek's
LightWave 3D® Receives Emmy® Engineering
Award
The Company’s Second
Emmy Acknowledges Revolutionary 3D Animation
Software
San Diego, CA, SIGGRAPH
-- July 28, 2003 -- NewTek, Inc.,
manufacturer of industry-leading 3D animation
and video products, today announced that LightWave
3D® has received the Academy of Television
Arts and Sciences Emmy® Engineering Plaque
for 2003. This is the company’s second
engineering Emmy award; the company also won
in 1993 for VT®, which is credited
with creating the desktop video revolution
of the last decade.
NewTek's LightWave 3D is a comprehensive
3D graphics production solution in use worldwide
for broadcast graphics, games, print, web, and
visual effects for film and television. LightWave®'s
complete and integrated toolset for creating,
animating and rendering 3D digital content helped
revolutionize television visual effects production
beginning in the early 1990s and continuing on
through today.
This honor recognizes LightWave
3D itself, but LightWave 3D users are no strangers
to the Emmy award. In the past decade, seven
Outstanding Special Visual Effects Emmy award
winners used LightWave 3D as their primary 3D
animation package. This year, for the second
year in a row, seven of ten nominees for visual
effects were produced using LightWave, and this
year every single nomination in visual effects
for a series went to a LightWave based company.
“We're honored to receive
this award from the Academy of Television Arts
and Sciences,” said Jim Plant, President
and Chief Executive officer of NewTek, Inc. “LightWave
3D’s overwhelming dominance in the field
of television visual effects is no accident – its
speed, power and workflow were all designed for
people working with television time and budget
restrictions. Our users love LightWave for its
ability to create effects and animation that
meet the highest standards of Hollywood, but
at a price people all around the world can afford.
We're humbled and gratified that the Academy
has bestowed this recognition for the contributions
of LightWave to the revolution in visual effects
production, and with our upcoming release of
LightWave [8] we expect that revolution to continue
for years to come.”
