TriCaster™ Saves Thousands of Dollars for the District of Lee County

The 6th Fastest Growing School District in the Nation Discovers the Power of TriCaster

Fort Myers, FL – August 1, 2006 – As the sixth fastest growing school district in the nation, the School District of Lee County has experienced its share of growth. Keeping up with this growth has its challenges, especially in educational technology. With several studios and broadcast journalism programs located at various schools throughout the district, equipment is a huge expense. The District of Lee County has saved more than $20,000 per studio by consolidating audio/visual equipment with TriCaster.

“TriCaster is an all in one solution,” says the District of Lee County Instructional Television and Video Supervisor Al Shilling. “The biggest thing I like about the TriCaster is the ability to easily train a teacher or media specialist on its operation.”

Since TriCaster’s release in 2005, NewTek Education Specialist Theresa Lucio has seen a steady trend in purchasing. “The early adopters of TriCaster have been the district and school visionaries – teachers and administrators who understand future technological learning trends and the impact TriCaster has on these trends,” she says. “It’s always exciting to see what these leaders in education are currently doing and planning to do with TriCaster in their classrooms, schools and districts.”

Shilling says TriCaster will be used as the primary production tool for both elementary and middle school applications this year. The system is gaining popularity throughout the district, with several individual schools purchasing TriCaster for classroom education and curriculum. Shilling also plans on streaming media throughout the district with TriCaster. “…we will be able to use TriCaster in conjunction with a Windows Media server and stream content for students as well as for staff development and training from one school site to another,” he explains.

With plans to build 15 more schools in the next four years, Shilling says NewTek will continue to play a key role in technology within the district. “I am impressed with TriCaster and everything it offers,” he says.
