LightWave 3D® Gains Maximum Speed and Power from Latest High Performance Mac® Systems
NewTek ships Universal version of LightWave® v9 for Mac Users
San Diego, CA -- SIGGRAPH -- August 7, 2007 --
NewTek, Inc., manufacturer of industry-leading 3D animation and video products, today announced that the Universal version of the Emmy® award-winning LightWave 3D® will be available the week of SIGGRAPH 2007, August 7th -11th. LightWave 3D for the new generation of Intel®-based Macs takes full advantage of the advancements in the operating system, architecture and development environment from Apple®, providing major speed and performance improvements for Mac users. The Universal version enables LightWave® to run on both the PowerPC G4 and G5 CPUs and the new Intel-based Macs. Optimized performance will be provided for Mac users natively on both series of CPUs.
“With the Universal version we've enhanced LightWave 3D to take maximum advantage of the new OS and system capabilities, to squeeze every bit of power out of multi-core processors and high-performance OpenGL displays. With this combination, the improvement in workflow and render speed is mind-blowing,” says Jay Roth, President, NewTek 3D Division. “LightWave once again pushes the limits for 3D graphics and visual effects production speed and power.”
NewTek's 3D development team has adapted LightWave more fully to the unique strengths of the Mac platform in the move to a Universal application. The GUI takes advantage now of the latest OS developments, with all new menu handling and screen drawing for a faster and more responsive user experience. A new audio core with audio scrubbing capabilities is also among the major improvements to the application, allowing the user to match animation to audio. A wide range of optimizations in workflow and rendering speed come together in this new edition to make LightWave faster than ever for graphics production work on the Mac.
