TriCaster PRO Provides Northside ISD a High-Tech Edge
for Good Old-Fashioned Pep Rally
San Antonio’s NISD welcomes back more than 8,000 administrators,
teachers and staff using NewTek’s portable live production system
San Antonio, Texas – August 18, 2006 – A good old-fashioned pep rally isn’t just for students anymore – just ask the more than 8,000 Northside ISD administration, educators and staff participating in this year’s back-to-school teacher convocations, celebrating the theme “Northside ROCKS!” Although the traditional elements of this pep-rally were abundant – noise makers, flying beach balls, loud music and audience cheers – the integration of high technology took this old-fashioned event to an entirely new level.
The teacher convocations, totaling nine over three days, were presented live utilizing NewTek’s TriCaster live production system. “These events are huge and the district expects a great production,” explains NISD Media Specialist Terry Whittle. “It’s so much easier to produce and record these types of events with TriCaster PRO.”
Whittle, who uses both TriCaster and TriCaster PRO, says he’s very happy. “We really like to produce exciting, professional presentations,” Whittle says. “With TriCaster PRO, I can get as creative and big as I want to – it truly is like having a live television truck at the tip of my fingers.”
With more than 82,000 students attending NISD, the district is now the fifth largest in Texas. “With student populations this large, it’s important to put on events like this and show staff how much the district appreciates their hard work.” Whittle says. “A teacher pep-rally of this level really adds to the excitement of a new school year and shows the uniqueness of NISD.”
NISD Director of Public Relations Pascual Gonzalez agrees, “TriCaster PRO has been a great tool for our district, adding graphics, PowerPoint slides, simulcasts, video and more to our live events, meetings and presentations,” adding, “We use it for every NISD live event.”
Whittle says TriCaster PRO gives the district a definitive edge when it comes to live productions and webcasts. “This little machine transformed an old-fashioned pep rally into a professional production,” he says. “The ability to hold on to these age-old school traditions yet add this type of technology really enhances the district’s overall message – how great is that?”
