User Event
If
you missed the NewTek User Event on Monday night at the Radisson Hotel,
here's a quick recap: There were presentations from Michael Hardison of
Pixel Magic on the making of the movie Driven, Robert Baldwin from
Nickelodeon on Invader Zim, and a special presentation given by
Richard Kerris, former Director of Technology for Maya at Alias|Wavefront.
We demonstrated new features and functionality to be included in LightWave 3D® [7], and to the astonishment of everyone in the audience, Brad Peebler,
executive vice president, 3D Graphics, personally "shipped"
the first two copies during the meeting.

On the Show Floor
On
center stage was LightWave® [7]. We enjoyed seeing the thousands of astounded
faces as we demonstrated the new features, speed, and stability improvements

We showed off some of the most amazing 3D at the exhibition, highlighting many projects that have used LightWave 3D®. Live presentations included: Pixel Magic on the movie Driven, AristoMenis on his upcoming short film The Freak, Sextant Entertainment on the making of Voyage of the Unicorn, Digital Domain on the American Express Blue commercials, Nickelodeon on the making of Invader Zim, Dan Platt on his Medicus project, and Tim Wilcox on the making of The Time Machine.
Other demonstration pods in our booth included previews of VT[3], our non linear editing solution. Using the VT[3] and our switcher, we streamed the whole show out to viewers on the Internet. In fact, over 36,000 people watched the continuous video stream of the action on the floor! The VT[3] is due for release this year. Find out more at www.videotoaster.com.
