Description:
NewTek seeks an experienced lead hardware design engineer to provide technical and design leadership on new product development. The individual selected for this position will manage hardware design on new products and overcome technical challenges. They will develop prototypes and test plans, and ensure that designs undergo thorough qualification testing. They will be responsible for completing design documentation and delivering a complete documentation package to manufacturing. The lead hardware design engineer will host periodic design reviews and product readiness reviews. They will support the product’s transition into production, and provide ongoing support as needed. They will provide leadership to ensure that products released to market deliver the best possible customer experience.
Responsibilities:
- Design experience with PC or PC-based products (PCI, PCI Express, etc)
- Expertise in motherboard architectures and chip sets
- Experience with analog and digital audio and video
- Experience with FPGA design / Mixed Signal design
- Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, and PCB auto-routing software
- Some knowledge of with programming in C/C++ and various assembly languages
- Working familiarity with multimedia streaming standards: H.263, H.264, etc...
- Expertise with Windows XP/Vista
- Experience creating design documentation for use by manufacturing
- Demonstrated ability to create detailed test plans to ensure product functionality is adequately tested
- Ability to create detailed plans and schedules for design and test activities and to manage the design and test teams to execute to those plans
- Conduct detailed design reviews and document results for follow up
- Conduct design readiness reviews with broader team to ensure that design is ready for transfer to production
- Ensure that the product meets quality and reliability standards in order to deliver the best possible customer experience
- Collect information from manufacturing team, tech support team and test engineering team to ensure that new designs adequately address and resolve problems on previous release of product
- Provide leadership to create a hardware development process that consistently delivers high quality and reliable products on time and on budget.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience, related degree preferred.
- Self starter able to operate in a highly entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills (required to establish and maintain inter-departmental relationships).
- Demonstrable leadership skills and experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
