Amiga Video Toaster
Toaster 3.0/3.1/3.5
Toaster 3.0 Install Fails at Disk 30 on 4000/4000T
Product: Toaster 4000 Rev 3.x
Platforms: 4000 4000T
Problem: When installing the 3.0
System 4000 Toaster Software, the install consistently
fails at Disk 30.
-
If the target computer is an Escom Amiga 4000T,
those units shipped with a double-density floppy
drive instead of a high-density floppy drive. You
will need to replace this with a high-density floppy
drive in order to do an installation.
-
If the target computer is a QuikPak 4000T, on
some production runs the problem is the same as
the Escom, the Floppy is a double-density drive.
On other runs the floppy drive is high density,
but is not fully supported by the Amiga OS, since
it is not the same make and model nor is it fully
compatible with the high density drives originally
shipped with the Amiga 4000 series machines when
Commodore manufactured them. In either case, the
only way to install is to substitute a high-density
floppy drive that is fully compatible.
-
Any 4000 or 4000T with a known compatible high-density
floppy drive:
-
the floppy drive has developed a problem and
needs to be repaired or replaced.
-
Disk 30 is bad. Call NewTek for replacement
of the diskette.
Note: If the Amiga system has a CD-ROM drive or the
user wishes to add one, then the user can contact NewTek
Customer Services to obtain the 3.5 Software on CD-ROM,
as an alternative to replacing double-density drives
or replacing failed diskettes in the 3.x software set.
