Flyer Hardware Issues
Adding A Second Audio Hard Drive
Product: Flyer
Platforms: 2000 3000 3000T 4000 4000T
Problems: User requires more space
for audio files; current audio drive does not perform
at a level that allows two clips to play simultaneously,
or cannot play two clips plus a split edit simultaneously.
For more space, the user could substitute a larger
drive, but adding a second drive is an option that
keeps your current drive investment going plus adds
storage capacity. When performance is the issue, the
user may replace the drive with a drive which offers
higher performance. However, the user may also address
the performance problem by adding a second Audio drive,
and that will provide the secondary benefit of additional
space, as well as preserving the current drive investment.
To add a second audio drive:
Set the SCSI ID on the new drive to a number that
does not conflict with another SCSI device on the C
chain, set Termination off if the drive is not the
last device on the chain, and if the drive is to be
terminated, set termination power (if the option is
provided your drive) to come from the drive only, not
the SCSI host.
Since the Flyer's controllers are SCSI-2 Fast types,
each SCSI chain has a limit of seven devices.
