      Flyer Is Not Initializing

Product: Flyer

Platforms: 2000 3000 3000T 4000 4000T

Problem: The Flyer does not seem to want to initalize when the computer system boots up.

Check the following:

  1. Check the User-startup file for the "c:flyerinit" statement. If this has been deleted or commented out, the syntax is:

    C:Flyerinit (drivename):NEWTEK/PROGRAMS/FLYER_SUPPORT

where (drivename) is the name of the drive or partition on which the NewTek drawer is installed.

  2. Disconnect all SCSI drives attached to the Flyer. After disconnecting try again to see if the Flyer tries to initialize, if it does then try reattaching the drives one at a time, to determine if a drive has had a failure of the electronics, and is preventing the Flyer from initializing.

  3. Check the SHOWCONFIG from either shell or through the SYS:Tools Directory. If the board does not show up as an unidentified board with product # 2191, then the Flyer card is not being recognized in the system. In this case the end-user needs to try the card in another slot. If it does not show up after changing slots then the end-user may need to see if some other card is recognized in either of the slots. If the other card is recognized then the Flyer card is malfunctioning and the end-user needs to call for an RMA.
