LightWave 3D [7.5] FAQs
Dongle/Hardware Lock
What is a USB-port dongle?
A USB-port dongle is an approximately 3"x1"x.75" purple
plastic device with a USB connection on one end. It
attaches to any USB port that is connected to the computer.
This can include a keyboard with a USB port or a USB
hub.
Early USB-port dongles were for the Mac operating
system only, but DUO USB dongles will function on the
PC or the Mac.
Unlike parallel-port dongles, USB dongles do not have
a pass-through feature, although this is not usually
a problem, as most computers have more than one USB
port.
Once the USB-port dongle is connected to the computer,
a green light should come on on the end opposite the
USB connection. This is usually a good indicator that
the dongle is functioning properly.
