Concept: Motion to Titles
Module:
Assets: None
Time: 10 minutes
One of the most exciting new features of VT[4] is the addition of CG-Post to VT-Edit. Now you can bring CG Titles to life with motion and keyframing.
This tutorial will take you through three stages:
- Setting Up CG-Post
- Entering and Modifying Text
- Adding Motion Keyframes
Setting up CG-Post:
1. Open VT-Edit with both a Timeline view and a Filebin view.
2. Place a video clip into Timeline. (For this tutorial we used... “Content VT4/Video/China/ChinaOpera_2.avi”)

3. To enter CG-Post, select the Effects quick tab at the bottom of the Filebin view in VT-Edit. In this Effects folder, look for the three new CG Icons… CG Crawl Page, CG Scroll Page and CG Still Page.

4. Select and drag a CG Still Page icon into the timeline and place it beneath your video clip.

Entering and Modifying Text:
5. To display your text on top of your background video, make sure that the Show All Layers checkbox is turned on.
6. With the newly added CG Still Page “Selected”, change the lower pane to show the Control Tree view.

7. Note all of the extra tabs that are available underneath the Control Tree. Select the Title Compose tab.

8. Mouse click on the display area and type in a line of text.

9. Select the Text line by clicking on the Selection arrow, and then on your text line.
10. To resize text, grab a corner of the text box and stretch the text larger.
11. To position the text, grab the center of the text box and drag the text into position.

12. To add edges, click on Edge button, then drag the corner of your text box to the size of edging you desire.

Adding Motion Keyframes:
13. Again, to display your text on top of your background video, make sure that the Show All Layers checkbox is turned on.
14. Select the Positioning tab underneath control tree. Now you can rotate and position the text just like you would a video clip or still.

15. Move the position indicator to start of the title and select Keyframes to mark this point.
16. Rotate or Position text… here we rotated the text 90 degrees till it was hidden sideways.

17. Move the position indicator to the end of the title and select Keyframes again
18. Position text for the ending. Here we rotated the text 180 degrees so that it would rotate around.

19. All done. Now you can scrub through with the position indicator or play your project.
