April 06, 2016 by Chuck Baker

In a recent entry of his Playout blog for broadcast industry news site TV NewsCheck, Phil Kurz spoke with NewTek CTO and President Dr. Andrew Cross about the development background and the capabilities of NewTek’s Network Device Interface (NDI®).  This interview goes in-depth about how NDI will in fact integrate with other proposed protocols, broadening the options available withing a studio.  Dr. Cross states that a goal is to provide the glue or “a gateway” between networked systems in a video production suite, and that includes between the various protocols that may end up being used in a given studio environment.  A target for NDI is thus to mitigate many potential conflicts for users within the developing landscape of IP workflow.
