At InfoComm 2019, Sony Electronics has introduced two new PoE+ cameras to its IP-based, pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera family. The SRG-X400 and SRG-X120 join the BRC-X400, announced during NAB Show in April, in further strengthening Sony’s renowned portfolio of PTZ cameras.
Similar to the BRC-X400, both the SRG-X400 and SRG-X120 support SDI, HDMI and IP and are equipped with
NDI®|HX capability through an optional license. When combined with other NDI®-compatible hardware or software anywhere on the network, the
NDI|HX option presents unprecedented flexibility in IP-based live production. Connection via a single IP cable ensures a simple and cost-efficient set up, including power supply, image output and camera controls. Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) and Real Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP)¹ are also supported for easy recording and distribution of video and audio. These cameras support two channel audio and the audio is encoded and streamed with the IP video.
Royalty free NDI is the leading technology for video production over IP, now in the hands of millions of customers. NDI is a bidirectional IP technology for transport of video, audio and data at very high quality and very low latency on standard networks.
NDI|HX is an option that provides wireless and long distance network transmission. NDI also provides robust autodiscovery, so Sony’s PTZ cameras are immediately available to all present NDI-aware switchers and video production tools as soon as they are connected to a network. Camera and tally light control are available to applications or devices that support these functions.
The SRG-X400, SRG-X120 and BRC-X400 cameras achieve deep integration with Sony’s AI-based video analytics solution, Edge Analytics Appliance (REA-C1000). The abilities that REA-C1000 brings to the cameras include smooth auto-tracking of a presenter, handwriting extraction to extract text and characters written on a whiteboard or blackboard in real time and bring them to the foreground, and chromakey-less CG overlay to extract the presenter and place them on any background without the need for a dedicated backscreen or special training.
