July 19, 2016 by Chuck Baker

Don takes a look at more of the editing capabilities now available in media players in TriCaster Advanced Edition.

A previous tutorial covered a number of controls to adjust clips on the tool bar at bottom of the media player, including setting in and out points (those controls are enclosed in the red rectangle in the image).

There are also a variety of other options available in the context menu when you right-click on a clip. You can independently control the audio on a clip-by-clip basis. You can control the speed of clip playback, or you can change the thumbnail image that is used for the clip in the media player.

One very useful feature is the ability to split a clip. Scrub along a clip to find an interesting spot - in the video example, we move the scrub bar cursor to just before the flyboarder does a mid-air flip.   Then, simply right-click on the clip, and select Split at Current Frame from the context menu to split the clip at that frame.

Now, let’s add an effect such as slow motion.  Go to the new secondary clip, right-click on it, select Speed and set it to 50%.

Now when we watch this as a playlist, we see the first clip play at full speed and then the second clip, where we made our edit point, plays in slow motion.

All of this is real-time editing done in the media player in TriCaster Advanced Edition.

We hope this video has been helpful for you. If you have suggestions for other topics you would like covered in a 2-Minute Tutorial, please send us a message. We will see you next time.
