How to Trigger Automation Using DDR Clips Using TriCaster® TC1

August 19, 2019 by Richard Evans, video; Chuck Baker, text

NewTek TriCaster® automation extends to virtually every part of the system, and this includes being able to assign macros to trigger on the in and out points of a video clip in the DDR. This allows for simplifying both live and post-production tasks and for bullet-proofing tasks at show time. Examples:

  • Begin recording a live production for archiving by activating the Record function at the inpoint of the intro clip (seen in this tutorial)
  • Automate a switch to a live camera and bring up the correct lower third graphic for the talent on that camera by assigning a macro to the outpoint of a clip (seen in this tutorial)
  • Automatically key clips into virtual displays on your sets usiing a macro assigned to their inpoints
  • Automate an entire show with keying, effects and graphics from macros embedded into the clips stacked in the DDR

NewTek video producer Richard Evans uses a TriCaster TC1 for this tutorial, but the NewTek VMC1 production systems and TriCasters with the latest Advanced Edition software or Premium Access will also offer this capability.

We hope this video is helpful for you in using your NewTek TriCaster. If you have suggestions for other topics you would like covered in a Facebook Live or Tip Jar Tutorial, please send us a message. We will see you next time.
