Stream Live Events with PTZOptics Cameras and TriCaster Mini

May 25, 2016 by Chuck Baker

Robotic “pan/tilt/zoom” cameras are on the upsurge both for increasing affordability and for how they can contribute to overcoming limited production staff for live event and studio production. In this video, Paul Schmutzler of VideoGuys covers the steps needed to set up and stream a live event with one operator handling both the TriCaster and two remote control PTZOptics Cameras.

The use case profiled here is a church that is set up for live production of their services but applies equally to any venue which hosts frequent events or shows that would be streamed live. In this demonstration, a PTZOptics dedicated controller is used; however, the TriCaster software can control PTZOptics cameras directly, if the user does not have a dedicated controller.

Schmutzler also demonstrates how to integrate Joicaster live stream distribution service with TriCaster operation. Joicaster handles sending the stream to multiple content delivery networks, such as UStream and YouTube Live. TriCaster can do this as well, but many producers like to conserve the TriCaster system resources for live production operations by offloading the task of serving streams to multiple networks.
