X-keys Demos Control for NDI® PTZ Cameras at InfoComm 2018
June 18, 2018 by Chuck Baker
P. I. Engineering has released beta software that allows their X-keys joystick and keypad controllers to operate as camera controllers for NDI® PTZ cameras. The Windows-based application was demonstrated in the X-keys booth at InfoComm 2018 in Las Vegas. The demonstration included NDI PTZ cameras from PTZOptics and NewTek.
“We received a number of requests from broadcasters and live streamers looking for a way to control multiple NDI PTZ cameras. When NewTek introduced NDI PTZ commands in their NDI Tools, we saw the opportunity to fill this need,” said Dan Slider, Director of Marketing for P. I. Engineering. “Both NewTek and PTZ Optics supported our efforts and provided us with cameras for testing. Now we have an app which can connect to and control up to four NDI sources with our X-keys joysticks and keys.”
Any camera supporting NDI PTZ commands will, in theory, be controllable by the X-keys NDI PTZ application. Among the roster of vendors for NDI-enabled PTZ cameras are:
- NewTek - NDI PTZ1 Camera, the first NDI-enabled PTZ camera, offers 20x zoom, 1080p 60fps HD, and single cable operation with a PoE Ethernet cable.
- Panasonic - multiple models - AW-HN38, AW-HN40, AW-UN70, AW-HN130
- PTZOptics - multiple models - PT12X-NDI, PT20X-NDI, and PT30X-NDI, each available in gray or white.
- Lumens - VC-A50PN Camera
- Marshall - CV-620NDI Camera
P.I. Engineering is currently seeking Beta testers with other brands of NDI enabled PTZ cameras to participate in the testing. The Beta version of X-keys NDI PTZ camera controller application is available as a free download. Interested parties can contact P. I. Engineering via email: [email protected] or phone (517) 655-5523 Ext. 19.
